I have always wanted a wooden dollhouse and finally I received this one. It took a bit to put it together, but the end product was absolutely worth it. When building this you probably want to be two people unless you are an speedy screw tightener. Also when putting this together, just use some common sense and it is no trouble to put it together. Everything looks really high quality and wherever you put it up it will surely look beautiful. Just a few more suggestions; if you do get the furniture to go in it just work on moving the furniture around because if you put it the way that they suggest on the box the house will look a little crowded, but if you take the time it will be surely worth the investment because it looks fantastic, is super sturdy, and I for one think that most who get this will not be disappointed it is a wonderful treasure that will last a lifetime if it is taken care of. It's worth the investment, the instructions were quite simple to follow and the finished product looks great.

This dollhouse is very sturdy and looks great once put together. I would say the only downfall to construction of the dollhouse is none of the panels are labeled (even though the written instructions letter the panels)so you have to find the correct panel by looking at the pictures. None are exactly the same, but it obviously took longer to put together because of this. The kitchen and bathroom are a little small for furniture. My daughter absolutely loved it. It is so big. She will get years of playing with this dollhouse.

Melissa and Doug have a terrific product line. I've bought several of their wooden toys and have been delighted with all of them. The magnetic dress up dolls are wonderful because they are sturdy, easy for little fingers to use, and FUN. I saw how much my 3 year old goddaughter liked the one she had and got a similar one for my 2 1/2 year old niece for Christmas. After her Elmo slippers it was her favorite gift -- she sat on her mom's lap and started playing while the presents were still being opened. The different clothing combos are a great way to practice matching, visual discrimination, pairs, opposites, body awareness, and vocabulary. The choking hazard warning refers to the shoes, most of which are small enough to be swallowed. Easy solution - we put the shoes in a baggie for next year and for now Maggie Leigh goes barefoot. My only complaint is that a similar dress up set for boys has costumes for superheroes, police officer, firefighter, etc, while the girl sets only have pretty clothes. don't boys wear regular clothes too? don't girls play superheroes?

My two sons (ages 1.5 and 3.5) both love this toy. My 3.5 year old has been playing with it for 20 minutes at a time, putting on different matching outfits (fireman, police officer, etc.) He loves to dress the toy up as a character and then to bring it and show it to us.

His younger sibling also likes it and is able to put on bigger items on it - a vest or a hat for example. He doesn't mouth toys or small things so we're not too concerned, but we still try to watch him when he plays with it since some clothing items like boots or a mask are very small and could be swallowed by a toddler.

Finally a toy so my granson can join in the fun with. He is in a house filled with girls during the day playing ballerinas princesses and such. These are of no interest to him. So he was left out of the whole dress up experience til now. He now has the superhero and fireman to play dress up , He can now be the "hero" rescuing the girls in distress. And they can borrow his and rescue each other. Great toy for my 2.5 year old grandson. He likes it so much I just ordered one for our house. I think they should make one with careers for the girls too.

Pros: Melissa and Doug toys are great. My 3 year old son likes this toy. It has different professions (e.g., fire fighter, police officer) and fantasy roles (e.g., super hero, knight). It also is a type of puzzle because they match the outfits and make the pieces fit together. Adults can also enjoy it. It reminds me of my old paper dolls, but better because it's magnetic.



Cons: The box is awkwardly designed and all of the pieces don't fit in easily. My son has already misplaced some of the pieces. It would be better if the box was enclosed (e.g., had a lid) and all the pieces fit easily inside.

If your child loves pretend play and all things princess this is the toy for you! My daughter uses it for Disney princess figurines and the Playmobil princess sets. Because it opens up, it's easy for her to use all of her figurines. The drawbridge and dungeon are a lot of fun and there are many places to set up scenes for play. After looking at all of them - I'm glad we went with this one.

I bought this for my daughter because I liked it, and thought it was durable and well made. However, my daughter has been less than enthusiastic about it the last year, bought last Christmas when she was 4. It is very heavy, so she can't move it around very well, and she would prefer something that did a little more. I think we are going to get rid of this one and get the Fisher Price one with the swan doors. She will be able to carry it from room to room and it is just a little more "princessy" than a plain wooden castle.
